Resources for Wooster Families

Mary Schantz February 11th, 2009

We urge all families to explore the following resources for funding a Wooster education.

FAFSA: Because of the volatile economic environment, we encourage everyone to apply for need-based financial aid for 2009-2010 by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and our supplementary institutional aid application for continuing/returning students

Even if your family does not qualify for other forms of aid, with the FAFSA you will qualify for unsubsidized federal student loans.

For more information go to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ or call the Office of Financial Aid at 800-877-3688. Our supplementary aid application is available on the financial aid office webpage:

Remember, if your family’s financial circumstances change during the year, the financial aid office is often able to increase your eligibility for federal, state, or institutional aid.

The Ruth W. and A. Morris Williams Jr. Emergency Student Aid Fund: This resource is available to continuing students who have experienced an unanticipated change in family financial circumstances and face financial hardship that jeopardizes their ability to continue at the College. It’s for students who have exhausted all other sources of aid, including federal student and parent loans, and campus work-study or student employment. Upon graduation, half the loan will convert to a grant. For more information go to http://www.wooster.edu/financial_aid/Financial_Resources.pdf or contact the Office of Financial Aid at 800-877-3688.

The College’s Monthly Payment Plan: This is designed to help families budget for some or all of the year’s estimated net expenses. For more information go to http://www.wooster.edu/business/ or call the Business Office at 330-263-2321.
